Meet Maggie, the newest edition to our little kitty clan.

My Sister-in-Law literally rescued this kitten from certain death. On her way home from visiting family in the hospital, she found this kitten on the side of the road. They think the momma got hit by a car and the rest of the litter was killed by an animal - probably a coyote or fox (Dr. S said it could have even been a Feral Tom). My sister-in-law thinks that when she stopped she scared off the animal because this kitten has two puncture wounds on her neck. This past weekend my brother called to ask if I wanted her. I initially said no because Skippy’s meds are sorta expensive, and that I’d have to talk it over with the husband. Meanwhile they (my brother & his wife) took the kitten to the vet to get blood work done and the Feline Aids & Leukemia tests, both came back negative and she has a clean bill of health.  And she’s on antibiotics for the wounds on her neck.

When my husband got home I talked to him about taking the kitten, he told me ‘no’. So I called my brother to tell him, and he said ‘What?!?’ (like he knew something different). It seems that my husband told me ‘no’ but texted my nephew ‘yes we’ll take the kitten’.

Last night once we got her settled in she was all spitty and growling. I spent most of the night in and out of the bathroom checking on her. Today she’s all purrs and playing.

We had a check up with my vet today around 3pm. Well, no baths for at least a week or so because of her neck wounds, and Dr. S said that the fang I thought that was just coming in, is actually broken off - most likely while she was fighting for her life.  He gave me a kitten sized sample of Front Line to use in a week (just in case there are flea eggs). Also he said that I should continue to use the warm wash cloth on her bottom to get her to potty for about the next week because she’s so young.

So. I’ll be posting plenty of cute kitten pictures & videos.

My hopes are that she’ll do to Skippy what Skippy did to Vern. =)

This is what #ComEd did to our tree. Why not just remove the tree completely instead of making it unsafe like this. A few years ago their *trained arborists* did this to another tree in the neighbors yard. The first windy storm we had it split and fell INTO THE NEIGHBORS YARD. Someone could have been seriously injured. This is exactly what is going to happen with our tree.
